Memories and thoughts about connectors (and beyond)
I’m going to write about electronic connectors – some memories, thoughts and advice gathered over several decades spent largely among these connectors. Although I write about many things related to connectors, this is not an encyclopaedia, not a manual, not a textbook, not fiction. Accordingly, I have allowed myself relative freedom of expression and vocabulary, using professional jargon, including the usual English terms. Company names are deliberately written in all capital letters, although companies often do not spell their names in the same way in their own catalogues and websites.
I do not refer to any literature used, rather it’s all based on my own memories, company brochures, websites and freely available journals on the Internet (mainly Bishop’s).
I do not, nor can I, write about all the connectors in the world, only about those that are most commonly encountered in domestic engineering practice in Hungary.
The writing can be considered as a glossary of headings, sometimes with extended sentences, a book could be written on every single heading.
I am writing this as a blog, so I ask all readers who have comments or corrections to let me know on
My current intention is to write the following (currently only available in Hungarian):
- Connector characteristics
- Connectors, manufacturers, distributors
- How to choose a connector when designing electronic equipment
- My connectors 1955-2022
- Connector watch: reviews, what’s new, reading matters
